Part 3...

8) The End of the Not-Evangelion Movie

So Shinji and his new boyfriend pilot Eva Unit 13 down to Central Dogma escorted by Rei Q in Unit 9. Shinji makes an offhand remark about Rei and why she can't pilot to which Kawaoru replies that Rei Q doesn't have a soul and therefore can't synchronize with the eva.

Then how can she synchronize with her eva? How did she survive when Mari blew off her eva's head? Wouldn't the nervous shock kill her? Why can't it produce an AT Field? How is it still functional when it's missing a head? Then they come down and find Unit 6 and SEELE had stored the 12th Angel inside of it. Why would you do that? The Angels are the enemy right? Why wouldn't you outright destroy them? Why waste a perfectly good eva just store one? You know that an angel possessed an eva and used it to try and destroy humanity right? How do you know that this 12th angel won't do the same? When did you even capture it? Did you use an artificial saucer-eva? Did Rei Q capture it? Don't you need an AT field to neutralize an Angel's AT field so that you can kill it? What happened to the 11th Angel? Did you kill it? Why did you kill that angel and capture the 12th Angel? Why could Kawaoru give away his perfectly usable Eva just to seal one of his brethren?

With all of these questions in mind, Unit 2 and 8 drop into the scene to stop Shinji from pulling the spears. Asuka is being completely merciless and aggressive in the fight despite Shinji's reluctance to hurt Asuka and any attempt at genuine communication between the two of them appears unlikely. Meanwhile, Kawaoru realizes that both spears are the same type and decides to abort the plan. This doesn't bode well for Despair Event Horizon Shinji who desperately clings to this as the only way to make things better and pulls out the spears despite everyone and their mother warning them not to do it.

And you know what? I don't blame him. If WILLIE really are the only humans on the planet, then what's at stake for me to care? You know what Shinji? Pull the spears and drown the bastards in an ocean of their own blood!

So Shinji "unintentionally" starts Fourth Impact and the Wunder rams Unit 13 to try and stop the Impact from progressing any further. Unit 9 gets possessed by a SEELE program and we partake in a very awesome fight scene between possessed Unit 9 and Beast Mode Unit 2 while Unit 9 is also attempting to hack into the Wunder which is apparently alive? Asuka manages to defeat the Eva, but had to self-destruct her own eva in the process while Unit 13 is left out of the Wunder's range.

Meanwhile, Kawaoru tragically sacrifices his life to stop Fourth Impact and the explosive collar self-activates and kills him before Shinji's eyes. See, why did you do that Kawoaru? Now you've further wounded the already mentally scared Shinji and he's about to go into a comatic state worst than the one in End of Evangelion. Mari ejects Shinji from the falling Unit 13 before ejecting from her own eva and Fourth Impact is averted. Meanwhile, Gendo gives himself a pat on the back since this was all part of the plan and Asuka retrieves Shinji and Rei and takes them to an extraction point.

Not once do we see anyone regretting how they treated Shinji and admitting that all of this could have been avoided if they had communicated to the kid. Even Asuka takes it upon herself to "rebuke" Shinji and drags him along like he's a damned child. If 4.0 opens with Asuka and Misato giving Shinji a lecture, then I'm going to walk out of the movie because they're just as responsible for 4th Impact as Shinji is.

Worst part is? I still don't understand what the hell I had just watched.

9) Narrative Cohesion

Now you could take each separate issue with the film and defend it, but it all connects and ties together into a single cancerous problem. The problem is that this film completely undoes any of the Rebuild Series' Narrative Cohesion.

Narrative Cohesion is the end result of a story's internal consistency, setting, tone and plot all tying together into a neat looking pattern. The stronger that your Narrative Cohesion is, the better that your story is and the more people will enjoy it without being distracted by questions. It doesn't have to be perfect of course, minor or moderate plot holes are acceptable as long as they don't ruin the overall pattern.

For instance, I love Gurren Lagann, but I still don't understand anything about the theme or mechanics of why Nia died. This single event was so poorly placed, poorly explained, and poorly written, that I've pretty much decided to ignore it. Even Simon's reaction and actions in this situation are completely counter to his character-development and personality. But as this is my only complaint about Gurren Lagann's story, I can safely ignore it and it won't ruin the rest of my experience.

In the Lord of the Rings, the Ring that Frodo inherited from his uncle turns out to be a doomsday item that could bring about the end of the world and that wearing it will alert it's master to it's location. But in the prequel, the Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins uses the Ring several times in Mirkwood and Erebor and Sauron never detected him despite being relatively close to the area at the time. Why didn't Sauron sense Bilbo during any of the times that the hobbit used the ring? Again, this one question didn't ruin my experience in watching/reading the Hobbit. It's very possible that Sauron just wasn't strong enough to extend his presence until the time frame of Frodo's journey or Sauron was distracted from having to flee from the White Council.

In Final Fantasy, there's a healing item named a phoenix down that can revive characters after they've been hit with all manner of attacks ranging from stabs to powerful spells capable of incineration. But a character that dies in a cutscene is permanently dead with no way to stop it. Why doesn't anyone ever use a phoenix down? A legit concern, but not a big one to where it deflects any tension in the story. It's implied that a Phoenix Down is only useful for dying people, but not someone whose already dead though the games don't always do a great job of setting the item's boundries.

Even the first two Rebuild Movies had some questionable things in them that made me scratch my head. For instance, I was confused about Kawaoru and the Nerv Base on the Moon as well as the eva that was being built there. With all of the chaos that had happened on earth, how the hell did Nerv manage to successfully land on and build a fully functional base on the moon? I was also confused about the Rebuild Bardiel Incident. Namely, that I didn't understand why Asuka was used as a test pilot. I thought eva pilots could only synch with an eva that has their mother in it, so why are they putting Asuka into Unit 03 when her mom isn't inside of it? Why not get another kid and put his mother in it? I was even further confused when Mari used Unit 02 even though that shouldn't be possible. How can Mari pilot Unit 02 with Kyoko inside of it?

But again, these questions didn't stop me from enjoying the films. It's possible that the moon base is actually made by SEELE without anyone's knowledge to make their own personal eva in case Gendo becomes untrustworthy. As for the eva pilot thing, perhaps evas in this universe work a little differently than in the original. Maybe only Shinji's eva has his mom inside of it and every other Eva either has souls from flash-clones inside of it or the Eva's just directly connect with the pilot's soul. I'm willing to go along with a certain amount of ambiguity as long as it's payoff makes the temporary confusion worthwhile.

However, the questions that 3.0 raise are so heavy and numerous that they rip the Narrative Cohesion of the entire series into tiny little pieces. If you take every single question that I've raised since the beginning of this review and applied them to a chart that reads in big white letters: NARRATIVE COHESION, then they'd compound and add up until you can barely see the letters. In fact, let's do that right now! First, we'll list out every single question:

What the hell happened to the world in the past 14 years? Is all of this because of what happened at the end of 2.0 or did SEELE do something?

Are there any other humans left or are the members of WILLIE the last humans on earth? Do the survivors still live on earth or do they now live in high orbit or in space?

Did Kawaoru actually stop Third Impact? How did it still cause all of this damage when Kawaoru stopped the event within a few minutes of it's beginning?

Did any of that stuff in the 2.0 preview actually happen during the Timeskip or was it an Angel Fool's joke?

What happened to Kaji? Is he in WILLIE? SEELE? Is he even still alive? Is he still a double agent?

Where's Penpen? Did Misato 3.0 really eat him and make him into a toy model of the Wunder?

What exactly is the Wunder? Is it a living ship? Did WILLIE kill the 11th Angel and make it's bones into a ship?

Where did WILLIE get the Wunder? Did they build it? Did they steal it from SEELE? Was it a collaborative project funded by the UN?

Did the 11th Angel show up during the Timeskip? Is it dead or is it still alive?

Why did Seele decide to seal the 12th angel into Unit 6 instead of just destroying it?

How did Seele capture the 12 angel without any personnel? Did Kawaoru capture it and allow his own eva to seal it? Why would he be working against his own brethren? Why wouldn't Kawaoru outright destroy the eva so that it doesn't possess his eva (like Bardiel did earlier) and start an impact that kills off all humans?

How did WILLIE launch Mari and Asuka into space? Is NASA still around? Do they have their own launch-base for missions in space? Did Mari and Asuka takeover a base from SEELE or the UN and launch themselves into space?

How long was Unit 01 floating around in that black box in outer space? How did Unit 01, as damaged as it was as of 3.0, manage to maintain enough oxygen to preserve Shinji?

What happened to Rei? Did Unit 01 absorb her? Why? Why did Rei Q see an image of Rei 2 when Q was in that test tub bath?

Did Willie know that Shinji was still alive or did they just want to retrieve Unit 01?

Did Unit 01 fire that eye beam at the beginning or was that Shinji?

How did Gendo and Seele build those saucer evas when their entire staff is either dead or defected to WILLIE?

Where did WILLIE find the replacement parts for Unit 02? Were they scavenged from the pieces of Unit 03? Were they taken from other destroyed evas and attached to Unit 02?

Why is Asuka's eye glowing under it's eyepatch? Is it because of the Bardiel incident or is it actually a robot-eye?

Who exactly is Mari and what is her motivation for being involved in this crazy mess? Was she originally a secret agent from Britain? How did she hack into and pilot Unit 02 and even use it's Beast Mode?

What happened in the past 14 years to make Misato into such a cold-hearted bitch to Shinji?

Why did WILLIE attach an explosive collar to a kid whose harmless outside of an eva?

Does WILLIE know without a doubt that Shinji is responsible for anything that happened after NTI?

Why didn't anyone in WILLIE just tell Shinji the entire situation and why he can't pilot an eva again? Did anyone bother asking about Shinji's account of the situation before passing a biased judgement?

What happened to Toji, Hikari and the rest of Shinji's classmates? Did they die during the Bardiel Attack or during NTI? If so, then why did Shinji find a SEELE uniform with Toji's name on it?

If her brother died as an indirect or direct result of Shinji's actions, then why isn't Sakura also giving Shinji shit? Why is she treating him like a human being?

What happened to the rest of WILLIE after the Wunder became airborne? Are they just stuck in whatever ocean that they're in without any way of meeting up with their leader?

Does everyone in WILLIE know that Shinji "caused" all of the shit that happened after NTI or is that something only known to the inner circle of former Nerv employees?

What's stopping WILLIE from launching an all out assault on the barely occupied NERV HQ and killing Lillith or at least killing Gendo?

SEELE, the puppetmasters behind Evangelion's plot...literally turned out to be a bunch of talking black dominoes? Why didn't Gendo shut them off before now? Was he really taking orders from a bunch of dominoes?

Is Kawaoru still Adam? What does he mean by being the 1st and last Angel? Is this more Jesus symbolism that Anno is using to make the movie more deep?

What does it mean that Unit 9 and Unit 13 are "vessels of Adam"/surviving Adams? Does it mean that they're one of those four Adams from Misato's flashback and SEELE made them into Evas?

Why did Gendo cut off Lillith's head and put it in his own personal observatory?

Since Rei is supposed to have Lillith's soul and the union of Adam and Lillith will cause an impact then why didn't Zeruel cause Third Impact by eating Rei? Did that clone just not have Lillith's soul inside of it?

How come when Unit 01 pulled out Rei, it did cause Third Impact? I understand that Unit 01 was made from Lillith, but Rei is from Lillith too. Does it have to do with how Zeruel had eaten Rei too and that caused some Adam DNA to be absorbed into Unit 01?

If so, then why don't the angels just ambush Rei and/or Unit 01 and eat then to cause Third Impact that way?

What's the Lance of Cassius? Where did this Lance of Cassius come from? Is it an artificial lance? Did it belong to another Ancestrial Being? Since a Lance of Longinus helps cause an Impact, then I guess a Cassius Spear cancels out the Longinus Spear?

Was that the lance that Kawaoru used to take down Unit 01 in 2.22?

How will a Lance of Loginus and a Lance of Cassius undo the damage that NTI caused?

Why were both spears impaled into Lillith if she doesn't have her soul anymore?

Why is Kawaoru even going along with Gendo's plans?

If the spear that Kawaoru used before was a Cassius Spear then why did he give it to Gendo?

Why is Kawaoru willingly working with SEELE when he basically had his own personally made eva on the moon? Did he give up his eva to Seele during the 14 year interim? How did Nerv/SEELE even build an eva on the moon? Let alone the base that was on the moon?

If Rei Q doesn't have a soul, then how can she synchronize with her eva?

How did Rei Q survive when Mari blew off her eva's head? Wouldn't the nervous shock kill her?

Why can't Unit 09 produce an AT Field? How is it still functional when it's missing a head?

Why didn't Kawaoru realize that his Cassius Spear had been switched out until now? Did he never go down and check to make sure that his spear was still where he apparently left it? Why would he entrust his spear to Gendo knowing full well that Gendo cannot be trusted?

Why was Asuka so gunho for attacking Shinji instead reasoning with him not to pull the spears?

How was Shinji able to lock Kawaoru out from Unit 13's control when he hasn't even piloted that eva before?

Wouldn't having Unit 02 change it's entire form into a lion during Beast Mode do untold amounts of damage to Asuka's nervous system?

Is Kyoko even in Unit 02 or is it just a synthetic clone's soul? Does Asuka directly connect with the eva without a middle-man mother?

How was Seele-possessed Unit 09 capable of possessing the Wunder?

Why did Kawaoru put the explosive collar on himself after taking it off of Shinji? Why didn't he just throw it away? How did he take it off? Why didn't he take it off of himself?

How has Shinj's SDAT player survived all of the crazy shit that it's been through since Zeruel ate Rei?

Here's the Narrative Cohesion poster:

As I explain in it's original post: thaeonblade.deviantart.com/art…, applying any question about a story's plot and setting that isn't answered or answered adequately to this poster can show you how strong it's internal consistency is. The easier it is to read the poster, the stronger the Narrative Cohesion.

So let's put Rebuild 3.33 up to this simple question?

Here's the poster after applying every single question that 3.0 raises and fails to adequately answer:

Hey? Where did Narrative Cohesion go? I guess you can see it if you squint your eyes really hard and put your face closer to the screen. But it even if it's present in a "token" sense, it doesn't change the reality of how broken it has become. True Narrative Cohesion...the type of internal consistency that makes a work of fiction more fun to watch, It's gone...and it's not just going to go away. This chart is the narrative cohesion of the entire series going straight into Rebuild 4.0, how the hell is 4.0 going to fix all of this?

10) The Second World

The problems with Rebuild 3.0 go deeper than simply being a muddled incoherent mess, it also ties into creating a block from allowing the audience to immerse themselves in this world and further connect to the characters. Not only is it unpleasant to care about what happens to Shinji because of the harsh and dark tone, not only does the entire plot and situation make no sense, but I'm more and more disconnect from the world of the Rebuild films.

JRR Tolkien, termed a phrase for the fictional world called, "The Second World." The Second World is an imaginary world where the audience suspends it's disbelief in order to more greatly immerse itself in whatever fictional setting that they're in. For instance, people can't fly in real life, but comic book fans suspend that belief in order to enjoy watching superman fly around and save crashing planes. First an audience suspends their disbelief, then they adopt a "Secondary Belief" where they accept the reality and rules of possibility that this fictional world presents, and then they immerse themselves in this second world to more greatly enjoy it.

But Tolkien also warns, "The moment disbelief arises, the spell is broken; the magic, or rather art, has failed. You are then out in the Primary World again, looking at the little abortive secondary world from the outside." It's same as seeing the wires in a magician's show. Of course, you know that the magician is just using a well-practice trick for his "magic", but you enjoy the show as long as the illusion is entertaining. But when a prop looks fake or an act is unconvincing, then you call the magician a fraud and demand back your money. That's also why a lot of film-goers have become more and more annoyed with the increasing usage of Computer Graphics in films now a days because we've seen CG so much that it's easy to spot and doesn't look as real as actual sets, props and real-life actors.

In one film, the entire Rebuild Experience which started out as a reconstructive interpretation of the beloved Evangelion series has now become an abortive incoherent mess. My suspension of disbelief is challenged so much that I'm not longer as emotionally immersed in this interpretation of Evangelion as I was with the first two films. I cannot accept any event that occurs without skepticism or asking a question because the film fails to explain anything. Actually, it's not so much that the film fails to explain stuff, it fails as a sequel to the Rebuild movies, it's changed so many things that it's barely recognizable as an evangelion movie.

If it's going to change it's own premise, setting, central conflict, story and character focus on a whim...then how I trust it to have any kind of internal consistency?

11) In Conclusion

That's really all that I've got say about the movie.

In summary, it's animation is gorgeous as is it's action and the development/interaction between Shinji and Kawaoru. The setting actually looks like it would be pretty interesting if I knew anything more about it. I also like all of the eva designs, though Unit 8's eyes seem kind of weird to me and the idea of Misato owning her own ship would be awesome if I didn't hate the character with a vengeance.

But the story is a mess, the plot just raises more questions than answers, it's basic premise is hard to pinpoint because of my lack of answers, and it's too harsh and mean-spirited for me to going into 4.0 with any confidence for the conclusion of the Rebuild movies. In fact, this whole plot could have been avoided if everyone didn't swallow the idiot and jerkass balls.

Though the inherent problems with the movie may have come from it's troubled development. There's a rumor that the team started 3.0 with a different story and midway through production, they scrapped everything and this movie was the result. I wonder what that other movie would have been like? Maybe we'd see Asuka wake up and bond with Kawaoru and form a romantic relationship with him while they battle the 11th and 12th Angels together while Shinji and Rei have a soul-searching discussion with Yui and eventually leave to fight Kawaoru whose the 13th Angel. Then it would result in a tragic two on two battle between Shinji in Unit 01 and Rei in Unit 8 against Asuka in Unit 02 and Kawaoru in Unit 06. Shinji kills Kawaoru and Rei sacrifices herself to protect Shinji from Asuka's attack and the film ends with Shinji strangling Asuka with both hands while Misato enters the scene tearfully points her gun and fires...

Or maybe that other movie may have been worst than the one that we got. Guess we'll never know, but I do know that Studio Khara released this movie and...

It Sucked.

THE END
Conclusion of my insight into the third Evangelion Rebuild movie.

In my humble opinion...

*inhales deeply*

Wouldn't they FIRST blame the BIOmechanical SUPERWEAPON for the Near-Third Impact? Couldn't they tell that Eva-01 was berserking? They have SEEN IT MOVE ON ITS OWN FOR LILITH'S SAKE! ARE THEY ALL A BUNCH OF MORONS WHO ARE USING HIM AS A SCAPEGOAT-[HUGE RANT IN PROGRESS, PLEASE STAND BY] The only way that Everyone would blame Shinji for that would be if it was all A DREAM! And here's how and why it's possible!!! FEAST YOUR EYES ON THE WORK OF A PERSON WITH TOO MUCH CREATIVITY!!! [INSANE LAUGHTER THAT'S AS SPINE CHILLING AS THAT ONE SHINJI SCREAM FROM THE JAPANESE DUB OF END OF EVANGELION]

*INCOMING WALL OF TEXT* *INCOMING WALL OF TEXT* *INCOMING WALL OF TEXT*

I haven't watched any rebuild of Eva movies. and I'm (NOT) about to wach 3.0, not after seeing the plot for it and Rebuild of Eva 2.22 on the normal Wikipedia. The Near-Third Impact scene, along with a movie clip for 3.33 (Kaworu's death), GIFs and pictures of it and the 4.0 teaser. (Until You Come To Me.) (with what look's like Shinji being VIVISECTED with what looks like a partially flesh-colored ANGEL CORE in him) In my book, 3.33 and onward takes place INSIDE HIS HEAD! During all the hell he went through Shinji is actually in a hospital, hooked up to life support. In. A. F**KMOTHERING. COMA!

Look at it this way, he probably had a sync score of over 100% when his Eva was berserking. And then when it went and decided to initiate The Third Impact, he was probably still mentally linked to it, and the feedback began to overload his brain, effectively FRYING his mind. The last thing he saw and heard before his mind shut down to preserve his sanity was someone saying that The Third Impact was starting. The last conscious thought that he had was probably along the lines of: "This is all my fault."

It gets better, Bardiel, (remember that thing that jacked an eva?) Had gotten a microscopically small peace of itself into Shinji's entry plug during the fight. where it entered his bloodstream through a lung and went to his brain. it wasn't able take over Shinji directly, but it could keep him alive, (Gendo considered cutting off his son's life support to kill it before deciding that it would be too dangerous; it could come after him) play HELL with his emotions. (Read: Sorrow, and more importantly, GUILT) And mess with his dreams. after Shinji lapsed into that coma after or during The Near-Third impact, it had all the time it needed to give Shinji a PERSONALIZED nightmare that plays on his guilt and sensitive nature. Self-made just for him, with unfathomable hate in every moment of it.*snif* You can't buy that sort of love... *I was being sarcastic*

Kaworu tried to provide Shinji with some comfort by telepathically entering his dream and telling him that he was actually in a coma. But Bardiel was on to him and prevented him from saying anything that would let Shinji know that this was all just a nightmare; either he would say something entirely different, or not say anything at all. And then it managed to force him out in a way, and at the point where Shinji would be the most traumatized. Kaworu survived, I mean, he did say "We'll meet again *pause* Shinji." before his head exploded. (After the bomb spent several MINUTES of arming before finally detonating, silently I might add; there was no loud bang, just the sound of something splattering) And in my book, that pause was long enough for him to have put "when you wake up" in there. But Bardiel stopped him from even mouthing those reassuring words. So in the end he was unable to help Shinji. And Bardiel would only stop once Shinji was turned into a broken, empty shell of what may have once been a 14-year old boy as payback for the pain he caused it.

Of course with me being a sucker for happy endings, he gets better after his mind heals and he wakes up screaming in agony from being VIVISECTED in his nightmare with his "core" stabbed. With the only thing close to him having a bomb collar around his neck would have been a device that would enforce sleep paralysis to make sure that the angel (which hasn't taken over his conscious mind ) can't make him do anything while sleepwalking and is even detached from his neck moments after he wakes up and thinks it's an explosive that's about to be used on him. (which he considers he deserves and accepts what he believes to be his end) It also doesn't help that it looks almost exactly the same as the bomb collar from his nightmares except instead of two red horizontal bars on it's front like this: ( = ). there are two blue vertical lines. One on each side of his windpipe like this: ( | | ) Shinji is then forgiven by everyone. Except the man who he calls his father, who freaking DISOWNED him while he was comatose for his "failure to destroy the 9th angel" because in Gendo's mind: "Its Shinji's eva, he was in the entry plug when the angel attacked, so it's his fault that a part survived and got into him." EVEN THOUGH SHINJI HAD ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OVER THE EVA AT THE TIME!

And after he tells them about the worst parts of his nightmare (including Kaworu's death, after of which he tells everyone that he thought of him as a sibling, but he never had the chance to tell him that. After which Kaworu makes his presence known by saying that he felt the same) Misato, Mari, Hikari, Kaworu, the others, even Rei (who is off her emotional suppression drugs) and Asuka (who got her eye and missing limbs replaced by using LCL for medical aplications, and read a dossier on Shinji and learned he was a lot like her) wind up hugging with some of them (including Rei and Asuka) actually crying.

Later Misato officially declares that Shinji is like a son to her. The origins or Rei are revealed to everyone, and the first thing Shinji said when they were finished explaining are: "I have a SISTER!" Before promptly hugging her. And then getting mad at his father for treating her like a disposable tool and having Ritsuko drug her with so many emotional suppressants and disassociatives that Ritsuko felt as though it was almost a miracle that Rei wasn't dead from an overdose and only could hardly think.

Later Shinji and the others defeat Bardiel in a battle inside his mind with them asleep inside a specially designed entry plug for multiple people to sync with each other. In a perfect example of the trope: You Are Not Alone.

And then it's revealed that instead of dieing in the end, a small piece of Bardiel escapes from Shinji and sneaks into The coffee of GENDO IKARI. That's right, The consecutive winner of The Worlds-Worst-Dad Award for... I'm not sure how many years. The selfish. Son-of-a-Cussing CUSS-WORD HIMSELF gets what he deserves and has all of his cruelty, maltreatment, and abuse, turned IN UPON HIMSELF! And after being found in his office in a catatonic state with his head tilted back and his mouth wide open, as though screaming, HIS OWN SON says in a contemptuous tone of voice: "Welcome to your nightmare, FATHER." Before flicking his head which makes him collapse. And there was much rejoicing. From everyone.

In short, I made what's DeviantArt user known as :icongodzillaguy2000: said was "the best theory for evangelion I have seen by far!" And that was a comment on what I now consider as just a rough draft! It also contains some key segments of a plot for a fanfic. Not the whole plot mind you, just bits and pieces. I created it to give the good guys a relatively happy ending. It's not a cop-out, I'm just trading Shinji's current problems for different ones. He's going to be unable to go to bed without having nightmares for a long time without sleeping pills that suppress dreams, or someone snuggling him for the whole night and maybe indoor lighting...

But hey, it's just a fan theory. A fan theory that provides answers to a lot of questions about the third Rebuild film. And fanfic to go along with it and give it a somewhat happy ending. From someone who ships Shinji with Asuka, and Rei with Kaworu. You like?

I basically say that Shinji didn't deserve the mistreatment he got in 3.0 when they should be saying that the mess was caused by his very-much living, very temperamental, Evangelion. If that thing didn't start the Third Impact, none of this would have happened.

I mean, just look at him. This is the lowest point in his life; his only friend at this point is about to DIE. Gruesomely I might add. Can you not see the despair in his eyes? Does he look like he is deserving of all of this hate, negligence, mistreatment, and abuse?

:icontherisenchaos: said in his top ten unintentionally likable/sympathetic characters list that in 3.0 and I quote: "It feels like Shinji literally woke up in his own personal Hell, where everyone is confirming to him that yes, they do hate him, that his life is meaningless and only hurts others, and that the world would be better off without him existing." (it has Shinji at number six, with the image of him being from the lowest point in his life; his only friend at this point is about to DIE. Gruesomely I might add. You can actually see the despair in his eyes. And he looks like he is undeserving of all of the hate, negligence, mistreatment, and abuse that he receives) I agree with him completely. Along with others that say that he deserves to be treated better than what the third rebuild film did. I even say that he is completely innocent and that it was all Unit-01's fault for taking advantage of Shinji using its power to save Rei and using it as a catalyst to go and start an Impact-level disaster.

That's why I say that all of Evangelion 3.0 and onward was all just a nightmare Shinji had while in a coma after Unit-01's failed start of the Third Impact. (Which nobody was killed or "tanged" in IMO) (you do know what "tanging" means amongst the Eva fandom, right?) and why I came up with The F**KMOTHERING COMA Theory.
