Listen up.

You can hate the Rings of Power (I do) and you're not a bad person for it.

You can like the Rings of Power and you're not a bad person for it.

You can disagree with other people while also respecting them as fellow fans.

You can criticize Rings of Power and Amazon and you're not a bad person for it.

But when you demonize critics and fans as "racist" or "trolls", you're not defending the ideas that you think you're standing for.

All you're doing is giving validation to Amazon and the media cheerleading for them that they'll always win by manipulating viewers and fanbases against each other. Amazon, Disney and other corporations don't care about black people, women, feminism, or etc. It's all about money for them. This is not an opinion, it is the TRUTH. They only put identity politics and stuff into their product for the sake of marketing their product to certain groups that they think may otherwise not purchase their product. So they have a monetary incentive to tell people that naysayers are racist or sexist. Because that emboldens certain people to speak out against critics and to more easily broad-stroke them as bad people. So "defenders" are literally being weaponized and manipulated for the sake of creating controversy and bad press which creates more attention around the product and the manipulative corporation makes money as a result.

So people who like Rings of Power, I implore you to be willing to listen and accept other people's opinions. You don't have to like or agree with them, but show the opposition respect and basic decency. You may even learn something as we all learn something when we're willing to listen to people with differing or opposing viewpoints and experiences. But if everything I just said is going over your head and you still think that people who hate Rings of Power are just racists, sexists, trolls or etc then that's your loss. FYI I'm Black and I don't appreciate tokenism or how it's being weaponized now as it has been for the past ten years. I could even say that the corporations using this strategy of wielding black people as political weapons to attack critics while not considering what black people themselves actually want is pretty racist themselves. After all, what is more quietly racist than pushing black people out of the conversation and speaking for us about what we want?

For instance, maybe black people don't like tokenism in modern times because we want better than the crumbs we got decades ago when we had to be grateful to be mere tokens in white people stories. Maybe we'd like diversity in fantasy to be done right so that more are encouraged to make diverse stories the right way through making original stories adapting African folklore and legends? Native American folklore and legends? Ancient Egypt? Need I go on?

Or, if you're going to put black folk into a LOTR adaptation, use the actual source material for stuff.

Like you know? HARAD. Show the Haradrim dealing with the increasingly corrupt and cruel Numenorians and how many Haradrim end up serving Sauron! Even Shadow of Mordor did this when they had a black Gondorian by explaining that he was a native of Harad who was adopted and raised by Gondorians.

As I've always said before, if you want to put diversity into your story then do it right or don't do it at all.

If you're going to be political in your story, do it right or don't do it at all.

And if your response to valid and justified criticism is to demonize the opposition with slander, silence them, censor negative reviews, and act like self-righteous hypocrites, then maybe Elon Musk was right. Maybe the people accusing others of being racist may be closet racists themselves. Wait? It's not fair to broadly label you as racist? Do unto others as you have done unto you. If you don't want to be unfairly labeled as a racist, don't unfairly label others as racists just because they didn't like something that you like.

Done for now.

So a Twitter Executive (Don't know if former or current) apparently had disagreements with a certain billionaire over Twitter censorship and information control policies and made fun of him for having Aspergers in the process. Here's the rough quote: He has Aspergers. So he's "special". I'm like, you're special needs. He's literally special needs. So, I can't even take what you're saying seriously.

As someone with Aspergers (its included in the autism disorder spectrum, but whatever) myself, should I drop Twitter entirely since its leaders have shown inexcusable disrespect for people with Aspergers?

The man clearly thinks that people with Aspergers are incapable of making sound judgements or having valid opinions on things because in his eyes, we're too retarded to think like normal people. That we're wired differently so what we have to say about things doesn't matter and we should stay quiet like the good little retards that we are. And yeah I'm using retard because that's what he means when he says special needs. Let's just ignore that the billionare he's insulting is about to buy his company or that he's one of the richest people on the planet. Let's ignore that the many has companies in companies along with government contracts. I'm neutral towards the man personally, but he's clearly doing something right to be so well off despite being "special needs". I'll need to chill from this initial response, but this may push me to ditch Twitter entirely if this is really a reflection of their disrespect and hypocrisy amongst the already long list of hypocritical and disrespectful stuff that they've been doing. Yet, he's just one man whose just exposed his true colors. Why should I give him power by acting on emotion because he said mean words? Said mean words are still insensitive and wrong, but they are the words of one fool whose just exposed himself.

Which is really the beauty of free speech. By letting everyone talk, it allows the fools, hypocrites and assholes to expose themselves and face the consequences. So this will definitely backfire on Twitter as I'm sure it's already doing.

But most importantly, some asshole on twitter does not invalid my abilities or anyone else's abilities. So I'm going to share a few things with those of you who also have Aspergers, Autism or any other mental/psychological condition.

You matter.

Your voice is important.

Your talents and your goals are worthwhile. You are not inferior or unworthy of love and respect just because you're different. If other people can't see you for what you're capable of or deny you common decency because they want to put you down?

That's their loss.

Fuck them.

Don't let the assholes of the world blind you from how great you are or the good in the world.

There is good in this world and its worth fighting for.

There are people out there who will love you and respect you as you deserve. Some of you have already found them and the rest of you find them or they'll find you.

Be awesome. Be the best person you can be and then be better tomorrow. Spend each day being the best that you can be until you reach your peak and then push further up.

Just needed to vent. I'm moving on with my day now.

Stay Awesome everyone.

Updates

2 min read

April was a slow month, had a lot to work on and so no reviews that month. With that said, staying steady on the Princes Promise and I'm almost at a stopping point where I could take a break and chart out some logistics. By that, I mean show you guys some of those maps and concept art sketches I'd previously promised.

In the meantime, I did start a My Hero Academia x Star Wars crossover story up on AO3 for those who like My Hero Academia and or Star Wars. It's only in the beginning, but I'd been working on it on the side for a while and so updates should be coming soon for the first ten or so chapters. After that, it'll be awhile: https://archiveofourown.org/works/38543119 Updates on Wardens and MMMR coming soon. It will be worth the wait, I promise. I'll post a recap chapter for MMMR before the update since it's been a long while. Next update after that shouldn't take as long, but no definitive dates as of yet.

Thief and the Cobbler, Star Wars Prequel and Jedi Order Analysis essays coming soon as well.

Audio recording and editing is already done for the terminator overview video, just trying to get some footage and images from each movie that I have.

Not very impressed with Amazon's Rings of Power despite previously being open minded. In short, I was expecting things to be different, but they just HAD to make it political and try to throw around race baiting in a way that clearly makes them out to be un genuine about whatever they're pretending to be.

Not very impressed with the upcoming Game of Thrones Prequel House of the Dragon either. But that's mainly because I'm in the minority that believes that the Dance of Dragons conflict is overrated. I'd much rather explore the Blackfyre Rebellions...like imagine if Aegon the Unworthy was actually right about Aemon being Daeron's father? Wow! Give me more of that please!

I won't waste anymore of you fine people's time though, just wanted to update you on what's on my plate and what's coming soon.

Later and May the Fourth be With you friends.

Greetings deviants and watchers!

I hope you are all well and happy. Now, I guess I'll avoid beating around the bush.

I am officially announcing the launch of my Patreon Page!

So you might be asking, “Why is Thaeonblade starting a Patreon?”

Glad that you asked.

It's because writing has always been a passion of mine. Ever since High School, I've had the ambition of writing my own epic fantasy series. I've darted back and forth between different ideas and couldn't settle on one. Then I went to college and during my studies, I started writing fanfiction as a means of practicing and developing my writing ability and having fun along the way.

I've also written numerous analysis and reviews both to give credit to good stories and tear apart the bad ones. I also did this as a means of exploring the numerous techniques and aspects to good story telling. Figuring out what aspects work for which genres and series; what character ideas can lead to and how even good character and story development ideas can turn out badly if executed poorly. I also had a lot of fun in the process.

After years of experimentation, self-exploration and other work, I believe that I am now ready to embark on my journey to creating that Epic series. In fact, that's one of the reasons that I ghosted the site for so long was because I was working out ideas for my first original novel. I will announce that project with more details later, but I will give you the title and a summary now.

For now, I will announce the title for my epic fantasy series: The Prince's Apprentice

In the mythic world of Faeraw, Four heroes will endure through a world embroiled in warfare; societal unrest; economic collapse and spiritual devastation. A former slave turned mercenary seeks to be king of his own land, his own people and wear his own crown. A commander marshals his will to write his own fate and claim unmatched power. A prince battles against the weariness of his people and of his own heart to stand as a beacon of hope in an age of despair. A traveler walks through light and shadow on a quest that will have him face enemies of the flesh and of the spirit.

At the moment of writing, I currently have about 160 pages of incomplete scenes, dialogue and character interactions after working on the story for several months. I also have a map of the world of Faeraw and other details worked out. However, there is a lot of work that still needs to be done on this project and that's where you can help further.

My current plan is to post a chapter on my Patreon once every month for your enjoyment and observation. Feel free to comment on any suggestions, ideas, critiques and so on for what you see. Once the book is finished and published, I plan to give each Patron a free PDF copy of the novel as my thanks for your support. But I will admit that an ETA has not been set as of yet and I don't want to get anyone's hopes up either. Truth is one of the things that I stand by and transparency will never be denied to you.

In between writing my novel, I will also be posting written and video reviews on the Patreon Page and on Deviantart and Youtube on a bi-weekly to monthly basis. Shorter videos and essays will be posted sooner, but that will be a case by case basis. I will be open to requests for reviews in the near-future based on the results of Patron voting polls.

If some months are slower than others due to life circumstances, you'll be warned ahead of time in case you want to determine your finances appropriately.

Every Patreon Tier will offer the same benefits, everyone will pay what they want and what they can. I've structured the tiers to account for every potential budget and any support given will be appreciated. At the moment, the lowest tier is two dollars and the highest is currently ten dollars. As this is an ongoing project, tier amounts are open to change.

My eventual goal apart from completing The Prince's Apprentice and launching into other stories is to become a full time writer and reviewer. But that is only something that I will succeed at if I entertain you good people and earn your support. I don't want that goal handed to me, I want to earn enough patrons to dedicate myself to this goal full-time. I will work my hardest to ensure that whatever you give will be rewarded and whatever you choose to pledge will not be wasted.

To those who choose to pledge, you have my utmost humbled gratitude.

https://www.patreon.com/Thaeonblade

Let's go over one thing that this Patreon is not going to do:

This will NOT be related to any of my fanfiction series

I repeat, you are NOT paying me for my fanfictions.

Putting aside the legal and copyright stuff which is very long-winded, I don't feel that its moral for me to get money for writing stuff based on other peoples stories.

I do that stuff purely for fun and entertainment. Yes, it serves as a writing exercise. But only so that I can apply those lessons to my original content and learn about what my strengths and weaknesses as a writer are.

So the fanfiction stuff will be ongoing on its own schedule as its own separate project. The most that those will serve as is as a potential preview to the writing style that I will employ in my Original Work.

I may be open to Patreon Requests for one-shot stories, but it will have limited availability

Writing stories may look easy, but it is not. You have to plan out the plot, you have to characterize your acting characters, you have to work out the themes and incorporate them into the story, and you have to keep your audience invested and entertained. The longer your story is, the harder it is to keep everything together and do it right.

So I were to offer exclusive one-shot stories for Patrons, it would be on some limited basis. Either a first-come basis; raffle; or a voting poll. It would also only be something that I'd only do based on available time and if there's enough interest from my patrons.

Patreon Page is barebones right now, but it will grow

At the moment, I am working on a Video Review titled "The Tragedy of Miles Dyson" which will be a character analysis of the tragic figure Miles Dyson in Terminator 2: Judgement Day.

After that, there will be a shorter review overview of the good terminator movies namely 1-3 and Salvation.

I'm skipping The Sarah Connor chronicles because I never watched them, but word on the street is that the series was good and was another good series cancelled for stupid reasons. I'll briefly go over Genysis and Salvation, but most of what can be said for those two has already been said.

As far as written reviews are concern, I have Dragon Age: Inquisition and Angels in the Outfield lined up and in development.

Prince's Apprentice has one or two chapters that are almost fully completed and those will be shared on my Patreon as well.

I just wanted to get all of that out of the way. Like I said, transparency will be a key feature for this endeavor.

If you have any other comments or suggestions, share below and let me know. If you have any questions or tidbits, feel fee to comment or send me a personal message as I'm always open to feedback.

Thank you and you have a good day.
